Description

HA01 – Lead Acid Batteries

HA01 Application

This battery equaliser is used when you when have two or more 12V batteries connected in series. It is used to keep the voltage of each battery the same.  Over time, with each charging/discharging cycle, the battery voltage is will start to become unbalanced.  Each battery will also have a different self-discharge rate. These differences will mean that eventually some of the batteries in the series may become overloaded, and others will become insufficiently charged.  The voltage difference will increase each time the battery charge/discharge processes is repeated. This can eventually lead to premature failure of some battery packs within the battery series.

This battery equaliser will equalise/balance the battery voltages when it detects anything greater than 20mV difference between two batteries.  It will shunt current from one battery (the higher voltage one) to the other battery (the lower voltage one). It does this until the battery voltages are almost the same.  This will improve the battery performance and extend the batteries lifetime.

HA01 Key Features

This HA01 battery equaliser can be used for 24 volt, 36 volt, 48 volt battery systems.

Suitable for multiples of 12V batteries (use HA02 if your batteries are not 12v)

  • 1 battery balancer for 2x12V in series = 24v
  • 2 battery balancer for 3x12V in series = 36v
  • 3 battery balancer for 4x12V in series = 48v

See images for wiring connections

  • 0-5 amp equalising current between batteries.
  • LED indicator lights, show balancing current from battery A to B and vice versa
  • Low voltage disconnect of 10V.  This means if the batteries become significantly discharged, below 10V, the battery balancer stops working
  • Simple installation

HA01 Specification

  • Nominal battery voltage for each battery 12v
  • Optimising/ balancing current 0-5A
  • Self-consumption <3mA
  • Dimensions 70 x70 27mm
  • Includes reverse polarity protection
  • Low voltage disconnect, 10V
  • HA02 (lead acid, lithium iron phosphate, nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride batteries)

HA02 Application (as HA01 above but for more batteries and different battery voltages)

This HA02 battery equaliser is used for sets of batteries which are connected in series.

HA02 Key Features

The HA02 can compensate for batteries with two sides, e.g. 4x12V batteries or 8X12V batteries, see wiring illustrations along with the product photos.  This equaliser start to work when there is anything greater than 10mV difference between the two batteries. Current will flow from the higher voltage to the lower voltage battery, eventually reaching equilibrium.

Suitable for lead acid, lithium iron phosphate, nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride batteries.  This battery equaliser works on any any battery series where the voltage of each battery between 2.4V and 12V for each battery pack. This equaliser can still be used less batteries than its wiring connections if required, just leave the third / fourth pair of cables disconnected.

This battery equaliser works with series and parallel connected batteries.

HA02 Specification

  • Nominal battery voltage for each battery 4X(2.4v/3.6v/6v/9v/12v)
  • Optimising/ balancing current 0-10A
  • Self-consumption <5mA, 1.2mA (2.4V)
  • Dimensions 62 x 124 x 27mm
  • Includes reverse polarity protection
  • Low voltage disconnect – 1.8V
  • Simple installation
