Earthwool Loft Roll Insulation is primarily used for the thermal insulation of pitched roofs at ceiling level and it can also be used to thermally insulate floors. When used to insulate at ceiling level it is usually laid in two layers, with the first layer between the joists and the second thick top layer over, and at right angles to the joists.
Earthwool Loft Roll 44 is a flexible low density glass mineral wool quilt which is lightweight, flexible, resilient and non-combustible.
The rolls are 1140mm wide and partially perforated to produce either 2 rolls 570mm wide or 3 rolls 380mm wide.
- Lightweight and economic insulation quilt
- Produced for use with timber joists at 400mm and 600mm centres
- Partially cut perforations
- Provides thermal, acoustic and fire performance
Energy Saving Potential Savings
Earthwool insulation will significantly help to reduce heating bills. Highest savings achieved by fitting insulation to an uninsulated loft which can mean 20 times less heat is lost through your roof typically saving your around 275* per year for an average sized house. Even upgrading 75mm loft insulation to 270mm thick will mean 3 times less heat loss or typical energy savings of 50 to over 100 per year dependant on the size of your property.
* Typical sized house based on approx 60 square meter roof insulation area with an average efficiency gas heating system. Savings will he higher than those indicted if you have a larger property or if you have electric heating, which is more expensive per kilowatt hour than gas heating.
In addition to cold weather energy saving, loft insulation does also work both ways by keeping the heat out during the summer. A loft space can be in excess of 50 degrees centigrade during hot summer days, which will overheat the top floors rooms where the roof is poorly insulated.

Earthwool Loft Roll 44 is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozonedepletion potential in its manufacture and content and represents no known threat to the environment.Earthwool Loft Roll 44 s manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.
Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE Technology benefit from a revolutionary, bio-based, formaldehyde-free binder technology, based on rapidly renewable materials, instead of petro-based chemicals. It reduces embodied energy and delivers superior environmental sustainability.
The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with ECOSE Technology contain no dye or artificial colours the colour is completely natural.
Durability – Earthwool Loft Roll 44 is odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.
